“I produce surfaces with character.”
In my free time I am frequently on the road – with my racing bike or hiking in the mountains. This helps me clear my head for the challenges that I face in production during my work week. Originally, I only knew of Wieland from hearsay. A friend motivated me to apply. It was the best decision of my professional life: a secure job, a good salary and tasks with responsibility where I can work to my strengths.

A problem is half-solved when it has been formulated
We are globally known for the excellent quality of our products and surfaces. As such, our work is being scrutinized on a daily basis. We can only meet this challenge if we all work together. Particularly in really difficult situations. Like a few years ago, when we had a big problem at the hot rolling mill. For the extensive repairs, everybody pulled their weight, and we introduced TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) on top of that. Meanwhile we have, as a result, technically as well as optically, a flagship plant which not only impresses our customers, but also the manufacturer’s technicians – and they have really seen a lot of rolling mills.
Building a house also works when working in 3-shift operations
Working 3-shift operations is not easy. I still found the time to build a house for my family and to continue my education to become an industrial foreman. But this was only possible because my employer and my family had my back all the way. The foundation Berufsbildungswerk Philipp Jakob Wieland supported me financially during this period. My supervisor made sure I had the necessary leaves of absence, and my team helped me fulfill my responsibilities in those moments when I did not have much time. It is a great feeling to experience how your employer supports both your professional and personal goals.
